Southeast Regional Key wants to ensure regional public awareness of the valuable services offered through the Keystone STARS programs as well as to share the successes of the children, families and practitioners in our region. SERK values all of our early education partners and participates in meetings and events to ensure a team approach to early education in the region. SERK staff also holds regularly scheduled county leadership meetings that are open to the public. Please check for upcoming county leadership meetings.
SERK builds support networks in the counties for organizations and individuals interested in quality early education. The networks include early childhood programs, families, parents, school districts and child-serving organizations and are led effective July 1, 2011, by Local Education and Resource Network (LEARN) teams.
The LEARN networks are charged with effectively communicating with and engaging families and providing support to families with a child transitioning into an early learning setting or those with children entering kindergarten. Additionally the LEARN teams act as a resource for the early childhood education community in promoting OCDEL programs such as Keystone STARS, through activities such as early learning events and/or other programs within a community that emphasize quality early education programs and access to early learning opportunities. LEARN team members also work with school districts and community-based early learning programs to foster systemic smooth transitions from preschool to kindergarten for children, parents and teachers.
Beginning July 1, 2011, the Southeast Regional Key will work with three LEARN Team Leaders, one from each county, Philadelphia, Delaware and Montgomery in the region. SERK will post contact information for each LEARN team agency and the designated representative when OCDEL provides the information.
